The Masters of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education serves individuals who have never held a teaching certificate or license. It requires full-time study beginning in the summer and continuing through the academic year. Secondary Education consists of twenty-three concentrations: Art, Business, Chemistry, Chemistry/Physics, Dance, Earth Science, English/Language Arts, Family and Consumer Studies, French, German, Heatlh, Integrated Science, Latin, Life Science, Life Science-Chemistry, Marketing, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Russian, Social Studies, Spanish and Technology Vocational Education. Official transcript(s), GRE, two letters of recommendation, resume, 1000-word essay, supplemental form, content evaluation, good moral character verification and interview. Graduation Requirements
The Master of Arts in Teaching degree requires a minimum of 44 semester hours of credit, of which at least 39 must be at the graduate level, and includes a school-based internship. For students who have an appropriate undergraduate background in the subject matter content, the program is designed to be completed in one summer and the following academic year.
