DESCRIPTION: The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing is available at the Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga (including the Twinsburg Academic Center) and Tuscarawas campuses. Students interested in the program should apply directly to one of these campuses and meet with the director of nursing for additional application details concerning advanced placement, etc. Detailed information and requirements for admission, satisfactory progress and graduation are in the brochure for this program. A copy of the brochure may be obtained from the program director. Students are required to complete civilian (BCI&I) and Federal (FBI) background checks after acceptance into the program. The coursework for this degree may be applied toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

With the successful completion of the program, graduates are awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

The associate degree in nursing program, Regional Campuses, reserves the right to initiate changes in the program as deemed necessary for maintaining quality nursing education.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
As the largest health care occupation, registered nurses held about 2.5 million jobs in 2006. Hospitals employed the majority of RNs, with 59 percent of jobs. Other industries also employed large shares of workers. About 8 percent of jobs were in offices of physicians, 5 percent in home health care services, 5 percent in nursing care facilities, 4 percent in employment services, and 3 percent in outpatient care centers. The remainder worked mostly in government agencies, social assistance agencies, and educational services. About 21 percent of RNs worked part time.
