DESCRIPTION: The Associate of Applied Science in Computer Design, Animation and Game Design provides students with coursework in design, animation, game design and virtual reality. Computer-aided design (CAD) is used throughout the program for computer modeling and multimedia development. This program prepares students for entry-level positions as technical illustrators, drafter/designer technicians in business and computer animation and game design industries, as well as in the field of multimedia development. This major articulates with the Computer-Aided Drafting certificate and the technology 2+2 baccalaureate degree; please contact an advisor for more information. This program is available at the Tuscarawas Campus, with coursework available at the Geauga Campus, and Kent, through the College of Technology.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
 Computer software engineers held about 909,600 jobs in 2008. Approximately 514,800 were computer applications software engineers, and about 394,800 were computer systems software engineers. Although they are employed in most industries, the largest concentration of computer software engineers—more than 30 percent—is in computer systems design and related services. Many computer software engineers also work for establishments in other industries, such as software publishers, government agencies, manufacturers of computers and related electronic equipment, financial institutions, insurance providers, and management of companies and enterprises.

An increasing number of computer software engineers work as independent consultants on a temporary or contract basis, many of whom are self-employed. About 27,000 computer software engineers were self-employed in 2008.

 Admission is open to anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent.

 Minimum 62 credit hours. Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and in major.
