113 Satterfield Hall The Writing minor provides academic recognition to students who have demonstrated their ability in writing. The minor helps students establish eligibility for graduate programs in writing. It is also evidence of training that may be offered to prospective employers. See the course descriptions for prerequisite information. 2 Overrides are available from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at 330-672-2582. 3 This requirement may be met by placements and the Kent State University Press, The Writing Internship, Institute for Bibliography and Editing, WICK Poetry Center or others. Students may apply to the program coordinator for permission to use special topics courses and other appropriate courses not listed in the curriculum to satisfy the cognate requirement. Students in the College of the Arts may request that specific courses in art, music, communication studies, and journalism and mass communication be accepted as meeting the cognate area requirements. Minimum cumulative 2.000 GPA required for graduation. Students must complete at least two upper-division courses in the minor at Kent State on a graded basis (A-F).
