Description
The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing is available at the Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga (at the Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg) and Tuscarawas campuses. Students interested in the program should apply directly to one of these campuses and meet with a nursing representative for additional application details concerning advanced placement, etc. Detailed information and requirements for admission are in the brochure for this program. A copy of the brochure may be obtained from the nursing department. Students are required to complete civilian (BCI&I) and Federal (FBI) background checks after acceptance into the program. The coursework for this degree may be applied toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Career Opportunities
As one of the largest health care occupations, registered nurses held about 2.7 million jobs in 2010. Hospitals employ the largest number of RNs with approximately 66 percent of jobs. About 15 percent of jobs were in outpatient care centers, 13 percent in home helath care services, 10 percent in physician offices and 8 percent in Nursing Care facilities. The remainder worked mostly in educational institutions, government agencies and with medical manufacturing suppliers. Approximately 20 percent of nurses work part time. Admission Requirements
