Non-degree graduate Middle Childhood Education additional licensure coursework and field based experiences are prescribed based on the program approved for KSU by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Previous coursework may be considered if appropriate and current. This non-degree program is not intended for students seeking initial licensure. Completion of program requirements qualifies you to apply for Ohio licensure, it does not award you an additional license.

Students interested in a master's degree from KSU must also be fully admitted into the master's program and complete the prescribed coursework on the master's degree prospectus in addition to courses that are prescribed for additional licensure.

Official transcript(s) from Baccalaureate program, minimum 3.000 GPA; goal statement; two letters of recommendation, Questions in Anticipation of Licensure Form, and evidence of current State of Ohio teaching license.

An analysis of additional content-area coursework required at the post-undergraduate level will be completed before entering into the program and a Plan of Study will be created (based on transcript analysis and current ODE licensure requirements). A minimum grade of C (2.000) is required in each of these courses. This coursework would be in addition to the Non-degree Middle Childhood Education program requirements.

Minimum 30 total credit hours required for completion (plus any additional post-undergraduate content, if required). Minimum 3.000 GPA.

Licensure Requirement (not required for graduation): Candidates seeking Ohio licensure are required to pass the OAE Content Knowledge Assessment for each teaching field in order to apply for licensure. Students should consult their advisors for specific program requirements and refer to the Ohio Department of Education-Educator Preparation website for more information on assessments specific to licensure type.

Students who do not apply for license within 12 months of program completion may be subject to additional course requirement, based on Ohio licensure standards in force at the time of application.
