The Master of Education Health Education and Promotion enables graduates to pursue their diverse interests in the field while addressing competencies essential to professional development.Students are encouraged to pursue certification as Health Education Specialist. Admission Requirements
M.Ed: Official transcript(s), goal statement and two letters of recommendation. Admission into the School Health Licensure concentration also requires current Ohio teaching license. Please refer to the university policy for graduate admission. Ph.D: Official transcript(s), GRE, goal statement, two letters of recommendation, resume or vita and interview. The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Health Education and Promotion is an intermediate degree required of students in the doctoral program who not have an equivalent graduate degree. Students who do not have an equivalent graduate degree can be admitted into the doctoral program provisionally and will be considered for the Ph.D. program after they have met all requirements for the M.Ed. and the eligibility requirements for the Ph.D. program. The Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree requires a minimum of 32 semester hours of graduate coursework including at least 16 semester hours at the 60000 level or above. A major consisting of 18 or more semester hours in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services is required. M.Ed. students have six years from the term of first enrollment to complete the degree. Licensure Requirement (not required for graduation): After admission to the Ph.D. degree program, students plan a program of study with their respective faculty advisory committee headed by their advisor.
