* All courses taken from the list of major program requirements are used in the calculation of the major GPA.

** Student majoring in Latin American Studies must complete either Intermediate Spanish II or Intensive Portuguese. Students who have completed Intensive Portuguese do not need to take Intermediate Spanish II in Semester 4; however, they must take a general elective course of at least 1 credit hour in order to meet the required 121 credit hours required for graduation.

*** Latin American Studies elective courses. Student take any five courses. Students who choose a lower-division course as an LAS elective must make sure that they take sufficient upper-division courses (42 credits) to graduate. Students may also choose from any approved special topics course. Courses listed as core option that are not chosen to satisfy the core requirement may be taken to satisfy the elective course requirement. At least three of the five courses in the elective courses requirement must have different prefixes.

****One additional course taken from the Kent Core Basic Science courses in the following Arts and Sciences disciplines: Anthropology (ANTH), Biological Sciences (BSCI), Chemistry (CHEM), Geography (GEOG), Geology (GEOL) or Physics (PHY). Students may take the courses listed in the "introductory" sequences with the restrictions noted above in the Kent Core Basic Science section. The course may not be from the student's major.

*****One additional course taken from the Kent Core Social Sciences courses in the following Arts and Sciences disciplines: Anthropology (ANTH), Applied Conflict Management (CACM), Geography (GEOG), Criminology and Justice Studies (JUS), Political Science (POL), Psychology (PSYC) or Sociology (SOC).
