Description
The Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology is offered at the Ashtabula and Salem campuses. Radiologic technologists perform diagnostic imaging procedures applying knowledge of anatomy, pathology, positioning, patient care, equipment, radiation protection and imaging techniques. With the successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). The A.T.S. degree in Radiology Department Mangement Technology offers a completion program to graduat4es of certificate programs in radiologic technology. Kent State University awards 30 credits for the hospital based program and ARRT certification. Students then complete business and general courses. These courses may be applied toward a bachelor degree in business management at Kent State University. Career Opportunities
Radiologic technologists held about 216,000 jobs in 2010. More than 60 percent of all jobs were in hospitals. Most other jobs were in offices of physicians; diagnostic imaging centers; and outpatient care centers. (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics) Admission Requirements
A.A.S.: Admission to the program is on a selective basis due to the limited number of students approved for each clinical education setting. The application deadlines are February 1 at the Salem Campus and Ashtabula Campus. Program applicants are encouraged to meet with an advisor at the Ashtabula or Salem campuses to discuss the minimum admission requirements. Detailed information and requirements for admission, satisfactory progress and graduation are in the student handbook for this program. A.A.S.: Minimum 73 credit hours. Minimum 2.000 cumulative GPA and in major. Students must receive a grade of C (2.000) or better in all RADT and BSCI 11010 and 11020; or BSCI 20020 courses. Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates of this program will be able to: 1. Demonstrate oral communication skills. 2. Demonstrate written communications kills in the classroom, clinical setting and workplace. 3. Successfully perform all radiographic procedures in the lab and clinical setting and workplace. 4. Demonstrate professional conduct in the clinical setting and workplace. 5. Satisfactorily perform entry-level procedures upon employment as a radiologic technologist. Accreditation
