The Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management is designed to provide students with an academic foundation and field experiences in preparation for the recreation, park and tourism professions. Students can select from one of three concentrations: park management, recreation management and tourism management. The park management concentration focuses on providing opportunities for outdoor recreation and protecting the natural, cultural and historic resources on which those opportunities depend. The recreation management concentration focuses on recreation and leisure services in public, commercial, campus, community and outdoor settings. The tourism management concentration focuses on services and entrepreneurship in tourism industries and sustainable destination development. Career Opportunities
Professionals in the recreation, parks and tourism industry held about 740,000 jobs in 2010. Jobs were held in areas such as national and regional parks, tour destinations, theme parks, public park and recreation agencies, private non-profit organizations such as Y.M.C.A.s, country clubs and college campuses. General Admission for Freshman Students: Students most likely to be admitted and succeed at the Kent Campus are those who have graduated with at least 16 units of the recommended college preparatory curriculum in high school, who have achieved a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), and whose composite ACT score is 21 or better (980 combined critical reading and math SAT score).
