COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Course descriptions include a synopsis of the content to be covered in the course, the course prerequisite (if any), if the course fulfills a university requirement, if the course if cross-listed (i.e., equivalent) with another course and if the course is repeatable for credit. The course descriptions are divided into fall and spring semesters, with each course appearing in both semester listings. Please note that there may be differences in the same course from one semester to the next. Some courses require that a fee be paid in addition to instructional and general fees. A list of courses with these special fees can be found on the Bursar's Office website.
Course descriptions for academic years 1998 onward can be found online in the catalog archives. For course syllabi, please contact the instructor or academic unit for copies. To order pre-1998 course descriptions, please contact the Office of the University Registrar at 330-672-3131 or on its website.

COURSE AVAILABILITY AND ENROLLMENT
Undergraduate courses (10000-49999) are generally open to students of a class rank equivalent to the levels indicated. Students participating in the Honors, Early Admissions and Advanced Placement (AP) programs, as well as those who otherwise present evidence of qualifications beyond their class rank, may enroll in the appropriate undergraduate courses with the approval of their advisors and the instructors or departments offering the courses.
Most courses are offered in a regular sequence to meet students’ programmatic needs; however, the availability of any specific course in a given semester is subject to sufficient student demand and available resources. Some courses require that a special fee be paid in addition to instructional and general fees. A listing of courses with these special fees can be found on the Bursar's Office website.
Undergraduate students may enroll in graduate courses only with prior written approval from the appropriate dean(s).
Many of the 50000-level courses are also offered at the 40000 level for undergraduates. Students who have already completed 40000-level courses may not repeat the courses at the 50000 level for credit toward a graduate degree. No more than one-half of a graduate student’s coursework may be taken in 50000-level courses.
Students who do not meet the prerequisite(s) for a course may appeal to the department or school administering the course for approval to register.
