DESCRIPTION: The Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management is designed to provide students with an academic foundation and field experiences for preparation in the recreation and leisure services profession.

Students can select from one of three concentrations: park management, recreation management and tourism management.

The park management concentration focuses on providing opportunities for outdoor recreation and protecting the resources on which those opportunities depend.

The recreation management concentration focuses on recreation and leisure services in public, community and outdoor settings.

The tourism management concentration focuses on services in tourism industries and sustainable destination development.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
Recreation workers held about 320,000 jobs in 2006, and many additional workers held summer jobs in the occupation. About 32 percent of recreation workers worked for local governments, primarily in park and recreation departments. About 16 percent of recreation workers were employed by nursing and residential care facilities and another 10 percent were employed in civic and social organizations, such as the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts or the Red Cross.

ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS:
General Admissions for Freshman Students: Students most likely to be admitted and succeed at the Kent Campus are those who have graduated with at least 16 units of the recommended college preparatory curriculum in high school, who have achieved a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), and whose composite ACT score is 21 or better (980 combined critical reading and math SAT score). General Admissions for Transfer Student
:Generally, a transfer applicant who has taken 12 or more semester hours with a college cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale may be admitted. An applicant who has taken fewer than 12 semester hours will be evaluated on both collegiate and high school records. GRADUATION
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 121 credit hours. Minimum 2.25 major and 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA to declare Business minor. Business minor and 2.50 minor GPA is required for graduation.
