Based on the student’s education and/or experience, and with appropriate and adequate evidence, he/she may petition to substitute one or more of the core courses with electives. Courses equivalent to the core may be submitted with the approval of the student’s advisor and the School's director. Cognate and elective courses in related departments must be selected and approved by the Program Director and the student’s advisor.

 

Multiple Degrees Option
Students can concurrently pursue the Master of Science in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management and Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication or Master of Library and Information Science. Each program makes an independent admission decision. If approved for admission by both the programs, students may doubly count up to 24 credits for each degree.

Certificates
Certificate programs are available for student who may already have a master's degree or just wish to focus in health informatics or knowledge management without pursuing the full Master of Science program. Each certificate program is a minimum of 18 credit hours with specific requirements.
