Courses in the elective category are selected with the approval of the student's advisor and supervisory committee to support the student's research interests. Students planning to enter the professoriate should include CCI 80094 College Teaching in Communication and Information (3) in their electives.

 * Each doctoral candidate, upon admission to candidacy, must register for CCI 80199 Dissertation I for a total of 30 hours. It is expected that a doctoral candidate will continuously register for Dissertation I, and thereafter CCI 80199 Dissertation II, each semester, including summer, until all requirements for the degree have been met.
