German Major—2009-2010 Roadmap [Degree Requirements] |
![]() |
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)in German provides instruction designed to develop competence in oral and written communication; insights into language form, usage and meaning; and knowledge of German literature, cultural history and contemporary issues. The flexibility of the major makes it easy to combine with a second major such as history, international studies, political sciences or another foreign language. Combined with the minor in education, the B.A. in German leads to multiage (K-12) teacher licensure in Ohio. Majors traditionally pursue a liberal arts program, which can be used as a stepping-stone to advanced study or professional preparation infields such as engineering, international business, medicine and law.
Students interested in declaring the B.A. in German should contact the Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies, where advising is mandatory.
Students interested in teacher licensure must contact the departmental pedagogy coordinator for advising to complete the required education minor.
Under no circumstances may the coursework taken toward the major drop below 30 credit hours.
