Economics Major (B.A.)—2009-2010 Roadmap [Degree Requirements]

The Bachelor of Arts in economics to conceptualize and solve problems; to quickly find, organize and use relevant information; and have analytical ability. Students learn microeconomic and macroeconomic theory in their junior year and take an econometrics class to learn basic analytical skills. Coursework also includes a series of electives relevant to many careers in which these theories and skills are applied, including the U.S. financial and banking system; the economic relations between the United States and foreign countries; government spending and taxation policies; the United State health system and policy options. Finally, in the senior year students take a capstone course which utilizes and applies the theory, skills, and institutional knowledge learned in the program.

A Bachelor of Business Administration in economics is offered in the College of Business Administration.

Note: It is highly recommended that students electing the economics minor complete at least one mathematics course at the MATH 11011 level or at a higher level before registering for upper-division economics courses.
