Biology Major (B.A.) —2009-2010 Roadmap [Degree Requirements]

The Bachelor of Arts in biology degree is designed for the student interested in the biological sciences but eager to pursue a wider set of interests in the liberal arts. This degree may be appropriate for students interested in many health professions and professional graduate programs, or for careers in which a strong background in biology is desirable.


Biology Major (B.S.)

Molecular and Cellular Concentration—2009-2010 Roadmap [Degree Requirements] GPS

The molecular and cellular biology concentration prepares students for careers and postgraduate work in molecular or cell biology, especially in the field of health and biomedical sciences. Students who select this program are interested in cells, molecular biology, genetics and processes within organisms. Biology majors may seek employment immediately after graduation in the private, public or non-profit sector, or continue their education in a wide variety of graduate and professional programs.

Organismal Concentration—2009-2010 Roadmap [Degree Requirements] GPS

The organismal biology concentration enables students to focus on whole organism studies while maintaining a great deal of flexibility in course choice. This program helps prepare students for graduate school in areas such as ecology, animal/plant science, etc., and for careers not requiring molecular and cell biology skills. Biology majors may seek employment immediately after graduation in the private, public or non-profit sector, or continue their education in a wide variety of graduate and professional programs.

Pre-Medicine/Pre-Osteopathy/Pre-Dentistry Concentration—2009-2010 Roadmap [Degree Requirements] GPS

The Pre-Medicine/Pre-Osteopathy/Pre-Dentistry concentration is designed to prepare students for careers in medicine and health care.  The curriculum provides the courses required for admission to medical, dental, graduate schools, as well as other professional programs (optometry, physician's assistant, etc.).
