Program of Study for the RN/BSN Concentration
Registered nurse students take the same 36 credits of Kent Core and 19 credits of foundational courses that are required of all BSN students. Once RN/BSN students enter the RN/BSN concentration, they take 27 credits of nursing courses specially designed for the RN and a 3 credit upper-division health care or nursing elective. After successful completion of Nursing 41000, Concepts and Issues for Professional Nursing Practice, the RN/BSN student receives up to 33 University credits in nursing following the Ohio Nursing Articulation Model. **RN/BSN students will receive credit for up to 33 University semester hours of nursing courses upon completion of NURS 41000 Concepts and Issues in Professional Nursing Practice.
Progression
The student must complete all nursing course with a 2.0 grade point average or higher. The student may not repeat any clinical course more than one time and no more than two clinical courses may be repeated. Students attaining two failures in clinical nursing courses are automatically dismissed from the nursing program. A grade of C (2.00) must be obtained on repeat to avoid dismissal from the nursing program.
Graduation
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is granted to registered nurses who complete the planned program of study with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (C) and a minimum of 2.00 in each nursing course. Students also need to meet all other university requirements for graduation and complete a minimum of 30 semester hours at Kent State University.
